"Beloved Me Again" is a hitting vocal by English singer John Newman. The song was released as a digital download in Europe on 17 May 2013, except for the United Kingdom where it was released on 30 June 2013 every bit the lead single from his debut studio anthology, Tribute (2013). The vocal was written past Newman and Steve Booker and produced past Booker and Mike Spencer. The song was later featured on the soundtrack for video game FIFA 14.

Information technology was nominated for the Brit Honour for British Unmarried of the Twelvemonth at the 2014 BRIT Awards^[one] and nominated for the 2014 Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

Background [edit]

In an interview with Digital Spy, Newman was asked if he sensed that the song had something special near information technology in the studio. He said, "Yeah. The guy I wrote it with (Steve Booker), we turned around and had massive grins on our faces thinking, 'There's something practiced hither'. Just you just never know how good it is, you know?".

Newman was also asked if it was hard to write the lyrics nigh love and break-up, he said, "No, it'southward the simply place where I really open up to somebody, through my music. I'thou producing [the album] and writing information technology, it'southward good. I like to keep a hold of everything".^[2]

With the chord progression of Gm—Bb—Dm—C, the song is written in the central of M Dorian. The key signature is in D minor. Both are modes of F major, of which either one tin exist used as the tonic annotation/chord, because, still, the F major chord is non present in the song.^[3]

Music video [edit]

Ii music videos, both with elements of Northern soul dancing, have been released for "Dear Me Again". One version^[4] directed by Vaughan Arnell is based on the classic love story of Romeo and Juliet.^[5] The adult female in the video, Juliet, is French actress Margaux Billard, carefully watched over by her brother, Tybalt, played by Joseph Steyne. The Romeo, is British model Tommy-Lee Winkworth. This video ends in a cliffhanger as they get run over by a truck and their fate remains unknown till Newman'due south follow-upwardly single "Adulterous", which starts with a newspaper article indicating that they had indeed survived the crash, which was a striking-and-run blow.

Another version features Newman, backed past musicians, singing in a dimly lit room.^[6]

In popular civilization [edit]

"Love Me Again" was featured on the soundtrack of video game FIFA 14,^[viii] giving it a cult condition among FIFA fans, equally well as the Federation's #WorldCupAtHome series, which opened FIFA'southward annal during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also appeared in the closing credits of the 2014 science fiction film, Border of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The vocal was as well featured on the American Tv serial, Suits in the episode, "Buried Secrets", which aired on 6 March 2014, and in the opening scenes of the first episode of flavor 4, "Ane-Ii-3 Go", which aired 11 June 2014. "Dear Me Again" is also a playable song in Just Dance 2015. The song was also used as the theme to the tv set show Whiskey Cavalier which debuted in February 2019 and ended in May subsequently one season.^[9] In August 2020 and May 2021 it was used in TV and radio adverts for National Runway.

The French channel TF6 too used this song to shutdown its channel.
